Design Services
Depending on your needs, we offer a wide range of services from initial feasibility through to complete system design and manufacture, testing and finally to life cycle and obsolescence management.
Our experience includes working in highly regulated and exacting markets including rail and defence, supporting safety critical and mission critical systems. We also support projects for the much more commercially sensitive applications within the service and manufacturing sectors.
Electronic Design
Our team has extensive experience covering:
- Analogue, digital and mixed signal designs
- Embedded system development
- Microprocessor based designs, using Microchip PIC and STMicroelectronics STM series devices amongst others
- Programmable logic, with experience in hardware description languages including VHDL and ABEL
- COM Express®, SMARC® and Qseven® Computer-on-Module based designs
- Internet of Things (IoT) technologies, including AWS, MQTT, GPS and GSM
- Schematic capture and Printed Circuit Board (PCB) layout, including high-speed interfaces requiring controlled impedance and length matched routing
Our team has experience in using industry-leading software such as Altium Designer, Vutrax, MPLab and STM32CubeIDE.
Mechanical Design
As a core discipline to any product design, Digitrol has vast experience of delivering products meeting exacting standards to be situated in locations varying from ‘track-side’ for rail applications and even within Trident Class submarines.
The mechanical design process is supported by utilisation of the latest PTC Creo Parametric 3D mechanical design software. We also have experience in using Pro/ENGINEER and SOLIDWORKS.
Software Development
We are happy to develop complete software packages or work as an integrated team to deliver a final product. Our team routinely develops solutions involving:
- Language platforms including C, C++, C#, Python and Visual Basic
- Embedded device drivers and wireless drivers
- Embedded development for 8-bit, 16-bit and 32-bit systems
Compliance and Support
Digitrol routinely completes whole documented solutions when requested, offering:
- Bill of Materials (BoM)
- Full mechanical drawing packs
- Schematics and block diagrams
- PCB Gerbers and manufacturing data
- LVD and EMCD compliance
- Operating manuals and troubleshooting routines
- CE/UKCA Marking documentation to all relevant legislative requirements.
Using our own in-house EMI shielded room, we are able to carry-out pre-compliance EMC testing at an early stage of the design process. Our EMC test equipment includes:
- Teseq NSG3040A Transient Simulator
- Teseq TVT 1-250-16.1 Tapped Autotransformer
- Teseq NSG 435 ESD Simulator
- Siglent SSA 3032X-P Spectrum Analyser
Manufacturing
Our manufacturing workshop is well equipped for electromechanical assembly.
We have a wealth of experience in building 19″ rack type equipment for installation in data cabinets, from plug-in card front panel assembly up to complete wiring of the cabinets.
Our in-house capabilities include:
- Laser panel etching and engraving
- Laser cutting of a range of non-metallic material e.g. acrylic
- Small scale 3D printing
- Data cabinet wiring
- Panel wiring e.g. switches, indicators, sounders etc.
