Over the last couple of years, we have been making big investments into our EMC test equipment. From Surge Generator to ESD simulators, we have been making sure that we have kept our lab current to continue providing the most up to date pre compliance EMC testing we can.
But what exactly did we get? We dive into the new equipment below looking at the features and most importantly, what standards they cover!
So what equipment do we have? Apart from out EMI shielded room, we make use of the following equipment:
Teseq NSG3040A Transient Simulator
Teseq TVT 1-250-16.1 Tapped Autotransformer
Teseq NSG 435 ESD Simulator
Siglent SSA 3032X-P Spectrum Analyser
Teseq NSG3040A - Transient Simulator
The Teseq NSG3040A is a one-box transient generator platform that can simulate real-world electrical disturbances on power and signal lines. We use this to see how equipment will react exposed to transient disturbances like surges, bursts and power interruptions. What standards it covers:
IEC 61000-4-4 / 5 / 8 / 9 / 11 & 29
The NSG 3040A system is designed to fulfil conducted EMC test requirements for CE mark testing, which generally include combination wave surge, Electrical Fast Transient (EFT) pulses and Power Quality Testing (PQT).
Teseq TVT 1-250-16.1 - Tapped Transformer
The TVT 1-250-16.1 is a tapped transformer designed to simulate power supply disturbances for testing purposes. It enables the reproduction of voltage dips and short interruptions by providing controlled output levels at 40%, 70%, and 80%, as well as a full 100% mains output. This allows for reliable evaluation of equipment performance under real-world power fluctuation conditions.
Standards: IEC 61000-4-11
Teseq NSG 435 ESD Simulator
The NSG 435 ESD Simulator is a precision test instrument designed to evaluate the immunity of electronic equipment to electrostatic discharge (ESD) events. It generates controlled ESD pulses in accordance with international standards, enabling both contact and air discharge testing. With its user-friendly interface and reliable performance, the NSG 435 supports accurate, repeatable testing for product compliance and robustness against real-world electrostatic disturbances. The equipment can produce between 200V to 16.5KV. The unit is portable and easy to program enabling us to set the voltage to specific levels for problem testing. It also comes with its own internal battery.
Standards: IEC 61000-4-2
Siglent SSA 3032X-P Spectrum Analyser
The Siglent SSA 3032X-P Spectrum Analyser is a high-performance instrument designed for accurate RF signal analysis across a wide frequency range. It provides fast measurement speeds, low noise performance, and advanced features such as real-time spectrum analysis and integrated tracking generator functionality. Ideal for design, testing, and troubleshooting applications, the SSA 3032X-P delivers reliable and precise insights into signal behaviour in both laboratory and production environments.
With the addition of this advanced EMC test equipment, we’re better equipped than ever to support reliable, efficient pre-compliance testing across a wide range of applications. From simulating real-world power disturbances to evaluating electrostatic discharge and analysing RF performance, our enhanced capabilities help identify potential issues early in the development process. If you’re looking to reduce risk, save time, and ensure your products are ready for full compliance testing, get in touch with our team today to discuss how we can support your project.
